Summer solstice has officially arrived in the Northern Hemisphere! Did you know this year's solstice was the earliest in the past 228 years? This month we're excited to let the ☀️ shine on highlights including an update to the Analysis tool, a new precipitation dataset, and an upcoming webinar hosted by our very own Head of Product, Abby Smith!

What's new

Analysis Chart: Monthly Average Value 📊

We've released a new Chart Type in the Analysis tool: Monthly Average Value. This chart type is a nice way to see smoothed trends rather than individual captures. Pro tip: hover over a specific month's value to see the average value of all captures during that month.

New to the Lens Library: PRISM Precipitation Data

We're excited to introduce a powerful new addition to the Lens Library: PRISM precipitation data, produced by the PRISM Climate Group at Oregon State University. PRISM combines point measurements of climate data with a digital elevation model to generate reliable estimates across the United States. Here are a few ideas for how PRISM can be used to enhance your work:

☔ Monitoring precipitation trends and patterns over time to identify trends and anomalies that can impact your land management strategies.

🌧️ Contextualizing data about vegetation vigor and changes, such as to determine if changes in plant health are due to weather conditions, such as a dry summer, or if they indicate other underlying issues.

💧 Analyzing surface water presence in relation to precipitation to understand how the seasonality of precipitation influences surface water availability, helping you to manage water resources effectively.

Analysis charts, like the one below, provide insight into year-over-year trends and seasonal changes in precipitation, and can be saved in Notes and Reports. Read more about this new data set in this support article!

PRISM Precipitation Data is available with Standard and Enterprise plans.

Hot Tip

Customize your experience in Lens by adding custom overlays! Areas of interest on your properties such as building envelopes, timber areas, trails, etc. can be added to your portfolios, and then toggled on or off as needed on specific properties. This is a great way to visualize areas of interest on your properties, and can even be run in the Analysis tool to keep your work with data consistent over time! Below is an example of a building envelope, and this support article provides more information about how to add custom overlays to your Lens account.
