Our vision and values

We believe in a society that adapts to the natural resource and environmental challenges posed by human development, striving for a balance between human use and a thriving natural environment.

Empathy

Bring your whole self to work. We've got a well-rounded and interesting bunch, and we can't wait to see what you'll add to the mix.

Transparency

Transparency is at the core of how we operate, both among ourselves and alongside our partners around the world.

Building with science

We lead with science, then we strive to make the data understandable and, importantly, actionable.

Customer-focused

We're here to work on behalf of the planet, and the people who put the planet first.

Team-first, trust-first

Take care of one another, assume good intentions, and distribute ownership and responsibility.

Our hiring process

We're committed to building a passionate, diverse team of talented folks. We've designed a thoughtful, efficient interview process to help us find our next teammates. Here's what you can expect.

  1. Apply

First step: fill out our application and let us know why you could be one of us (one of us).

  2. Initial screen

After we've reviewed your application and decided you might be a good fit, you'll meet with the person leading the hiring process.

  3. Team interviews

Up next, you'll have two interviews where you'll meet and greet with folks on your team, or whom you might interact with regularly.

  4. Work samples

Show us your stuff! Depending on the role, we ask for writing samples, a line of code, perhaps a recent project or two that you're proud of.

  5. Reference checks

    A call here, a conversation there…

  6. Offer

You made it! Here's a letter of employment. Welcome to the team!

Our engineering values

These are things we value as an engineering organization. They describe behaviors we reward institutionally and help us figure out how to approach problems. We expect everyone to practice these values in their work and use them as a guidepost for decision making.

ABSCV: Always Be Shipping Customer Value

Whether working on a theme or small wins, always bias towards work that has a direct or indirect customer upside, and ask questions if that link isn't clear.

Iterative development

We aim to ship in the smallest increments that add customer value, iterating as we go and building on the momentum of our wins. Ship cupcakes instead of a half-baked cake.

Simplicity enables complex systems

Advocate for the simplest, most efficient way to solve customer needs. Avoid solving technical problems we don't need to, and watch for incidental complexity.

Transparent communication

Keep work visible, make sure your teammates know your status, broadcast changes affecting others, and raise your hand when you're stuck.

Ownership of the work

You're responsible for understanding what needs to happen, building, testing, and shipping. We all have a stake in our collective success.

Bias to action

Do the thing instead of talking about it. Velocity over consensus for reversible decisions. Finish what's in flight before starting something new.
