We’re excited to announce that Hull Street Energy (HSE) has made a strategic investment in Upstream Tech. HSE’s announcement is available here.
Our previous investors, mTerra Ventures and Ajax Strategies also participated in the round and we welcomed new investments from ENGIE New Ventures and Riverstone Ventures. These new partners join our previous investors Breakthrough Energy Ventures, SE Ventures, and others. As part of the transaction, Upstream Tech has become independent from its former parent company, Natel Energy.
This major milestone gives us a chance to appreciate how far we’ve come since we were founded in 2016.
We started the company looking to bring our team’s unique mix of software engineering, machine learning expertise, and environmental knowledge to bear on critical natural resource management issues.
Now, our software is deeply utilized by hundreds of organizations. Lens is a remote monitoring platform that has expanded access to satellite and aerial imagery and supports the protection and restoration of 70 million acres around the world.
HydroForecast is the most accurate forecast of river flow operationally available, a scientific and technological breakthrough, and has resulted in smarter utilization of our most precious resource, freshwater.
Along the way, we’ve built a remote team of 30+ passionate engineers and scientists who have shaped the company and what we stand for. We look forward to investing in and expanding our team – if you’re passionate about bringing technology to bear on pressing climate issues, please check out our current openings and stay tuned for more to come soon.
We’re thrilled for this next chapter, and to welcome these new partners on our mission to accelerate the pace, scale, and impact of environmental work around the globe.
