Upstream Tech, a mission-driven environmental technology company, has announced a partnership with Planet, a leading provider of global, daily satellite imagery and geospatial solutions. Planet is driven by a mission to image the world every day, and make change visible, accessible and actionable. The partnership will provide Planet’s high-resolution, high-frequency satellite imagery to customers of Upstream Tech’s Lens.
Lens is a web-based application that combines best-available satellite and aerial data with an efficient monitoring workflow to increase the pace, scale, and impact of environmental work. Environmental organizations, state and federal agencies, carbon project portfolio managers, and restoration companies use Lens to collaboratively analyze, monitor, and gain insights across millions of acres of land.
Planet’s cost-effective, high-resolution satellite imagery offers Lens customers new flexibility in imagery capture location and frequency. It will also give Lens customers the ability to plan for frequent satellite revisits to areas of interest, ensuring imagery capture for areas in order to track landscape changes or project development progress.
“We’re thrilled to become a Planet reseller partner and to bring Planet’s data to our customers in the environmental space,” said Carolyn duPont, Upstream Tech’s COO. “Planet provides great coverage and flexibility in imagery, and shares our focus on supporting environmental work through efficient and effective satellite monitoring of projects and properties around the world.”
Planet has revolutionized the earth observation industry with the highest frequency satellite data commercially available. Planet’s data is transforming the way companies and governments use satellite imagery data, delivering insights at the daily pace of change on earth. This differentiated dataset powers decision-making in a myriad of industries including agriculture, forestry, mapping, and government. Planet’s fleet of nearly 200 earth imaging satellites, the largest in history, images the whole Earth land mass daily.
