Justice, solidarity, and action

We at Upstream Tech stand in solidarity with the Black community in the fight for racial justice. Our mission is to catalyze positive conservation impacts in our work and we recognize the deep interconnections between climate justice and racial justice. We are committed to healing our planet and communities, pursuing environmental progress with social justice at its core.

To this end, we are exploring internal and external ways to shift the curve on environmental justice, which has integral connections to structural and systemic racism. In particular, we have identified the following actions as a starting point:

• We will pursue opportunities to provide our services at-cost to black-led and indigenous-led organizations which share our environmental conservation mission.
• As our team continues to grow, we commit to posting on inclusive job boards for all new hires.
• We are making space as a team to expand our knowledge on ways to be anti-racist and support team members’ efforts to process, protest, and volunteer to end systemic racism.
• We will host an internal retreat to brainstorm actionable next steps and develop impact goals and metrics to track the impact of our work in furthering environmental justice goals.
